A mechanical pencil led was found in the New York City subway system and a similar lead-based lead pencil was found earlier in the week in Philadelphia, according to authorities.
The lead pencil in the Philadelphia lead poisoning case was found on a train in the PATH system and was tested at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia police spokesman Lt.
John Walker said in a statement.
Investigators determined that the lead pencil on the New Jersey subway in Philadelphia contained lead in it.
On Wednesday, a lead pencil found in Philadelphia was also found on the train in a similar location, but in a different location, police said.
The lead-filled pencils are being tested for lead and are not believed to pose a threat to public health, police spokesman John Walker told reporters.
